Amy - Thanks for the comments. I can't really take any credit for the theme. I was surfing around looking at various theme galleries when I came across this one. I didn't modify this at all except for some widget arrangement. I might customize a little at some point, but I love this one as is. It can be found here:

As for Scribefire what I love is being able to edit and work on a post without having to go to a separate tab to my blog's backend. I can just do it right from the tab I'm linking to.

I don't always publish from Scribefire, but I'll often compile the post there and then dump it in to my blog. The only limitation with Scribefire is that you can't set a post time, so if I'm writing something for the future I can't publish it right from the tool. Also, since tagging as come to Wordpress, you can't "tag" posts like Wordpress intends. You can do categories, but not tags (despite scribefire calling categories tags). A little confusing but only a minor nuisance.

Oh - do you have a Wordpress plugin for catching those spam comments? I use the Akismet that came with my install, and so far it seems to work.

Great post! I'm also a Dreamhost user for my personal site, and have been for about 3 years now. Their email newsletters in particular are a scream; if you didn't opt into those I recommend you do. He gets around to sending them only about twice a year, but they're always worth a read. I'm also a GoDaddy fan... I haven't found anywhere that makes it easier to register and maintain domains. And... I just discovered Wordpress only a couple weeks ago, and I'm in love with it. (I'd been trying to make a site with Joomla and finally gave up.) So... since we seem to be fraternal twins of the blogging-preference-world, I figure I have no choice but to try Scribefire, since if you like it it must be good.

By the way, nice redesign on baseblogging!

Looking forward to this series. Followed your lead and started my new blog on wordpress. I've been quite impressed with it. I'm a computer novice, but have managed to get a decent-looking site up and running w/o any real technical obstacles. Wordpress also seems to have pretty good stats on page views, referring webpages, etc.
